Kingsport City Schools 2020-21 Pre-K Screening & Kindergarten Registration Information

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools will hold a "Drive Through" Pre-Kindergarten Screening (not registration) for the 2020-21 school year between May 19-22, 2020 by appointment only, located at the Palmer Early Learning Center, 1609 Ft. Henry Drive, Kingsport.

Only Kingsport residents with children four (4) years of age on or before August 15, 2020 are eligible for Pre-Kindergarten screening.

Children do not need to be present but parents/guardians must bring the following:
  • Original Birth Certificate (not a mother’s copy);
  • Proof of Residency Verification (mortgage statement, formal rental lease, property tax receipt or most recent water/electric bill);
  • Proof of Family Income for Pre-K only (income tax form [last year's 1040A,1040 or W-2], letters from the Dept. of Human Services verifying income, Food Stamp status number, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families/Families First/Transitional Families First case number, Pay Stubs, Child Support status verified, Unemployment Compensation, Supplemental Security Income verification or Employer Letter verifying pay).
Pre-K classes are offered Monday – Friday between 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Classes follow the Kingsport City Schools calendar, but please note that transportation is not provided. Current Pre-K locations (subject to change) include Palmer Early Learning Center, Jackson Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Kennedy Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Roosevelt Elementary.
 
Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-21 school year is now open, effectively immediately, via www.k12k.com, "Registration" on the homepage or click Student Registration Information. All new K-12 students may also register at this time.

Only Kingsport residents with children five (5) years of age on or before August 15, 2020 are eligible for Kindergarten. Parents/guardians must register for the school zoned for their residence; only parents or legal guardians may complete student registration documentation.
